Rainy day hangs

Leave it to Utah to get you ready for summer with 60 degree weather, and then suddenly start snowing and drop 20 degrees. It would be an understatement to say that I was devistated when I looked outside to discover it was snowing yet again. I did the walk of shame back to my closet, and traded in my tank top, and birkenstocks for a sweater, and Chelsea boots. Instead of staying inside and pouting all day, Kevin and I decided to make the most of the gloomy weather with a cozy brunch date at our favorite cafe, the rose. The rose is located in downtown SLC (surprised?). If you're not sure what to order, I highly recommend the mocha (Starbucks has got nothin on it ;).
Not only is their coffee amazing, but the atmosphere is to die for. If you've never been, you definitely should! Your instagram feed will thank you.

Downtown Daytrippin' Pt. 1

I'm such a city girl. I've always felt more comfortable in the hustle and bustle of the city, so its no surprise that you can almost always find me wandering around SLC. In my opinion Salt Lake is such an under-rated city. There are so many unique, and quirky little shops hiding around just about every corner. You could seriously spend all day downtown, and not even discover half of the cool things that there are to do. Today I finally had a day all to myself... which is such a rarity with my crazy busy life; so I decided to bum around downtown, and put together a post of two of my favorite SLC hangs.

Okay, so if you're from Utah City Creek is kinda a no brainer. Its the perfect hang out spot! You can go shopping, catch a movie, or go to dinner... not to mention one of my favorite art museums is right across the street! But the reason I love city creek so much, is because of the beautiful store displays that get changed each month! If we're being honest here.. it's 90% of the reason I go so often. Also, I can never pass up an opportunity to go shopping with friends ;)

The small stuff

I love sitting in the passenger seat of your car. My hand Pressed to the window, as the vibration of the cars buzzing past us races through my fingertips.
I love the sound of the radio. How it was so quiet that we couldn't quite make out the lyrics. When all that fills the air is a soft, statiky melody on loop.
I love the warm sunlight that comes through the bug speckled window, cascading over your lips. The sound of small breaths as you quietly try to mouth the words to your favorite song.
I love sitting there with my feet up on the dashboard, watching the world race past in a blur. The cotton candy colored sky stained with patches of orange, and yellow.
I love how the pink glow from the open sign gently tints your freckle kissed skin; as we stand in the empty parking lot of the gas station. The electricity buzzing through the fluorescent lights above us.
I love the tingly, static in the air. The kind that's so faint, you really have to concentrate to notice it.
But most of all, I love the familiar sound of your voice. The way it was trembling as those three small words escaped your lips.

March Beauty Roundup- 7 products I can't live wihtout

Just like almost every girl I know, I have about a million different beauty products. There are so many different brands and products on the market that it can be hard to know which ones a worth buying. I've narrowed it down to my 7 favorite beauty products that I can't live without.

Chanel L'eau- $132
Okay, okay...I know what you're thinking. Its crazy to spend 100$ on perfume; but hear me out. This is the best perfume that I have ever owned. Every time I wear it I get at least one compliment. I first picked this up in Paris immediately after it was released, and I have been hooked ever since. This perfume was created by the one and only Oliver Polge and its the first Chanel perfume that has fruity undertones. It has crisp top notes of Lemon, Mandarin, and Orange; and undertones of Cedar, Rose, and Jasmine. The word L'eau is French for water.. so this is a very simple fragrance that can be worn for any occasion; and the best part is it literally lasts ALL. DAY. LONG.

Pixi Overnight Glow Serum-24$

Due to my dull, dry winter skin, this is a beauty must have for me. This serum is a silky, glycolic rich formula that transforms your skin as you sleep. This serum dissolves the dead skin cells, bringing the new skin cells to the surface eliminating redness, and dark spots. Not only does this hydrate my skin, but it also doubles as a toner! All you need to do is add a few drops onto your skin before you go to bed and Voila! Glowy, hydrated skin! And guess what guys? Its cruelty free! Your animal friends will thank you.

Shea Moisture African Black Soap-20$

Okay everybody. This is definitely my number one product. Believe it or not, I used to have horrible acne, and acne scars. I tried literally everything. I took medication, I used every kind of face wash imaginable, I tried home remedies and drank crazy teas... but nothing worked until I came across African Black Soap. After using this for 1 month my skin had cleared up, and my acne scars vanished!! African Black Soap is 100% natural and organic... which means it wont leave those nasty bleach stains on your pillowcase. Its made of palm ash, tamarind extract, tar, and plantain peel. Not only is this stuff a miracle worker... but it's also cruelty free, Eco-friendly, and fair-trade. Granted this primer is a little more pricey than your typical drugstore primers; but for good reason. This stuff is used by the professionals, and many photographers for Vogue. It fills in pores and leaves skin virtually flawless.

Hourglass Foundation Stick-$46

Pale Girls, this one is for you. Sadly, I was not blessed with tan, sun kissed skin; and believe me I know the struggle of finding a foundation that isn't too dark, or too orange. This foundation stick is great for oily/ combination skin, and it's a heavier coverage... so there's no need to re-apply throughout the day. I put just a dab on my brush and blend it onto my skin in the mornings. This is the only foundation that has been light enough for my skin tone.. and if you're not pale like me? no need to worry. It comes in 26 shades.

L'Occitane Delightful Rose Hand Cream

I first discovered L'Occitane when in was in Paris. There was literally a store on almost every street corner, so I obviously had to see what all the fuss was about. L'Occitane has amazing anti-aging products that many of my Parisian friends swear by, but my favorite product is their hand cream. It's a thick formula that absorbs easily into the skin, which I desperately need throughout the dry winter months. It also smells AMAZING, and pairs beautifully with the Chanel perfume I was talking about earlier; so of course it made my beauty list!

Living Proof Texturizer 15$-29

If you re like me and you weren't blessed with thick, voluminous hair.. then this is the stuff for you. I have tried so many different hair texturizers only to be left with sticky, stiff, weighed down hair... until my good friend from Sephora told me to try this. This stuff is practically weightless and doesn't leave a white residue. All you need to do is spray it onto your roots after you re done styling and just like magic... you have the thick hair you have always wanted.

I am in Love With Us

I'm in love with us.

      I have always been in love with us; With the human condition. I am fascinated by the things that make us tick; The burning type of passion inside that causes our palms to sweat, our hearts to shiver, and our bones to ache. I am always so eager to ask somebody what they love. It is in those seconds when those three words are spoken that time seems to come to a still. You can see the heart race, the eyes widen, and the vulnerability begins to set in. We tiptoe around this sentence, careful who we share this very fragile part of our selves with.
     I want to look into eyes flickering with light when they tell me about their very fist love. Hear the crack in their voice when they tell me about how it broke their heart. I want to put my hand to their chest and feel where it ripped open, and hear the laughter in which mended the wound. Humans cease to amaze me. How quickly we can fall. How strong we can rise.
     I just love us. We are messy. We are clumsy. We are fragile. We fumble around, with no direction, trying to find a purpose. We are all just winging it, because there is no instruction manual to this chaotic mess we call life. We have no idea what we are doing, yet somehow everything still seems fall perfectly into place.
     Humans are misunderstood creatures. Some look like art, and some look like they have been living in a war zone. Some of us will break. Absolutely shatter. Sometimes with no hope left... but there is always someone who comes a-long looking to make stained glass.
     We are not perfect. We don't always have it all together.
     We are human. And I am in love with us.
